ANAVI continues to give back as part of Anglo-Eastern’s deep-rooted commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
On 26 November 2023, the ANAVI team attended the blessing and inauguration ceremony of the new premises of the Little Sisters of the Poor: Home for the Aged. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and thanksgiving as the team gathered to witness this auspicious occasion. Reverend Bishop Oswald Cardinal Gracias presided over the symbolic ribbon-cutting and the unveiling of the marble stone, adding a solemn touch to the event.
It was heartening to see so many individuals come together, united by their commitment to creating a home for those in need. These newly inaugurated premises will undoubtedly serve as a haven for many individuals requiring care and support. It was a momentous occasion that marked the beginning of a new chapter for the organisation and its mission.
A month later, on the evening of 18 December 2023, the ANAVI team re-visited the new home for the elderly and were happy to see all residents comfortably settled in their new building, with most of them having their own rooms. The team had the opportunity to meet a few of them in their living room open space. Both the elders and the ANAVI team were happy to reconnect after some time. Sister Isabella and Sister Agnes expressed their gratitude on behalf of the Home for receiving a hot and cold water dispenser, along with a small fridge facility for their new space
Two weeks later, on 4 January 2024, the members of ANAVI made a further visit, welcoming the New Year with festive cheer and receiving their precious blessings and love from the elders. they accompanied us by singing a touching prayer song. The game of housie was a highlight, and delighted everyone by creating a warm and engaging atmosphere for both the ANAVI visitors and the residents. Additionally, the ANAVI team had the pleasure of distributing sweets and snacks, which brought smiles to everyone’s faces. These moments spent with the elders are always heartwarming and rejuvenating.
Separately, in late December 2023, Captain Swapnodeep Mondal’s family visited the Anavi-Janvi School & Computer Centre. The children celebrated Christmas with the visitors and were delighted to receive gifts, particularly notebooks and snacks. The guests had the opportunity to meet the families of the children, interact with parents, and inspire them to continue sending their children to school. Thanks to the infrastructure provided by AESM, some students from the computer centre have successfully completed certificate courses and even obtained a diploma.
All human beings should be treated equally with respect. Let us pay the kind act forward and create a more inclusive society.
